For all Govinda fans who have been waiting to catch the man in action with a worthy enough comeback, here is some good news. He would be seen in not one, but as many as two films in the month of November. This isn’t all as both films would be releasing on back to back weeks. Both films have reputed production houses backing them and Govinda has an integral part to play in there. These films are Yash Raj Films’ Kill Dil and Eros-Illuminati Films’ offering Happy Ending which arrive on 14th November and 21st November respectively.
Though Govinda was seen earlier this year, it was in a cameo for Akshay Kumar’s Holiday. One could see a glimpse of his famous comic timing and hence was left with asking for more. Though his last film as a central protagonist was Naughty @ 40 (2001), it was an apology of a film and crashed without finding any takers. Before that he had featured in Mani Ratnam‘s Raavan (2010) where he had a relatively small part to play with Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Vikram leading the show.
Though ever since then there have been murmurs around him making a true blue comeback in a credible affair, the wait has been rather long. The actor even refused some recommendations that came from Salman Khan.
However, November could well turn out to be a month of reckoning for the actor who had last tasted success as a leading man seven years ago with Partner (2007). Now that he is playing a colorful character of ‘Bhaiyyaji‘ in Kill Dil where he nurtures the two leads (Ranveer Singh and Ali Zafar) to kill while also stepping into the shoes of a quirky superstar in Saif Ali Khan starrer Happy Ending. One waits to see the kind of magic that Govinda brings on screen!
Hopefully, the audience will get to see the Govinda who had regaled audience right through the 80s and the 90s.
