For the last few weeks, there have been speculations about Ranveer Singh stepping into a part which filmmaker Aanand L. Rai had apparently envisaged with Salman Khan in the lead. This was for a new film that Aanand was planning, and though earlier it had seemed that Salman would be working in it, very recently Ranveer came into picture when he was spotted with Aanand and Krishika Lulla (of Eros) after a meal outing.

However, it seems the movie in question would only be made in 2015, since, before that, Aanand has started shooting for the sequel of Tanu Weds Manu. Confirms our source:

“That’s right. Shooting of the film started on Tuesday with R. Madhavan and now Kangana Ranaut is joining as well. Yet again, Aanand is keeping the spirit of the film intact by opting to shoot in smaller cities and towns instead of a metropolitan setting. This time around, the chosen destination is Lucknow.”

This has been a rather sudden development as one was instead expecting further developments on Aanand’s other film. “He is talking to a lot of actors and while Salman and Ranveer were certainly the ones whom he had met, nothing is finalized yet. The film is happening for sure and it would have Eros as the producers. However, that would be next year,” our source adds.

When released in 2011, Tanu Weds Manu was a good success and had done well pretty much on the power of strong word of mouth. Aanand’s stocks went further higher up when his Raanjhanaa with Dhanush and Sonam Kapoor turned into an even bigger success. It was a given that the film’s producers, Eros, would make another film with the director. This has happened indeed with as many as two back-to-back commitments that have been put into action now, with Tanu Weds Manu 2 being the first in the offing.

One just hopes that it turns out to be yet another delightful affair when it releases in the middle of next year.
