I love Disney, you love Disney, everybody loves Disney and for a good reason! Disney movies have been such an integral part of our childhood that I for one cannot imagine not knowing whether Aurora managed to meet her prince and wake up from her sleep, or if Belle’s true love could actually turn the Beast back into a Prince or not! These childhood gems (R.I.P. Mufasa) will never ever be forgotten. That’s why, due to the fact that I don’t have a life; I decided to cast our very own desi girls in the role of beloved Disney princesses! Want to find out who would make a good mermaid and who could carry the power of turning everything into ice? Read on!
1) Aurora – Sleeping Beauty
Aurora is gorgeous, but from what I can remember (and I remember a lot of stuff) she doesn’t really have that much to do apart from looking nice and sleeping peacefully. Keeping these facts in mind I chose Katrina Kaif to play this sweet yet passive role. (Ranbir Kapoor can play the prince who wakes her with a kiss and all that jazz.)
2) Rapunzel – Tangled
Now this is a feisty one! Rebellious enough to run away from the secluded tower where Mother Gothel has kept her. Rapunzel is fun, fearless and a naïve little princess with gorgeous, gorgeous hair! And due to the aforementioned qualities, I present Sonam Kapoor! Why? Just, who can stop me from dream casting her? Who?
3) Snow White – Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Pretty pretty Snow White, believes that everyone is inherently “good”, yet her evil step mother wants to kill her! Who better to play the ‘fairest of them all’ than Shraddha Kapoor? She looks like a princess anyway 🙂
4) Pocahontas – Pocahontas
Her name means ‘little mischief‘ but she’s a total badass! Falling in love with the enemy, fighting for her cause and being overall awesome is what Pocahontas stands for. She is one of the few mainstream characters who chooses to stay with her people instead of going off with her lover. Only Priyanka Chopra can do justice to this strong lady!
5) Elsa – Frozen
Okay so here’s my casting, Kareena Kapoor as the ice queen Elsa (she will totally ROCK my favourite Disney song Let It Go) plus Bebo gives off major Ice Queen vibes sometimes, don’t you think? The cold never bothered her anyway…
6) Anna – Frozen
I cast Elsa, so I have to cast Anna! The a-dork-able younger sister who decides to bring back the snow queen! I’d say Parineeti Chopra, mostly because she’ll kill it with such a fun role!
7) Ariel – The Little Mermaid
She’s inquisitive, spunky and bold enough to leave her comfortable life as a princess, give up her voice to get legs and go for the man she saved in the sea! I can only see Alia Bhatt play this lovestruck mermaid endearingly!
8) Belle – Beauty And The Beast
Nerdy, sexy and strong-willed enough to live with a beast! Actually not only live with him, CHANGE him into a freaking prince! If Belle cannot be considered a magician, I will not believe in magic (which I totally do!) So to play this cool yet tough girl, I suggest Sonakshi Sinha! She’ll do a good job; if you don’t believe me get yourself a DVD of Lootera right now!
9) Merida – Brave
The princess from Scotland knows she can control her own destiny and doesn’t feel the need to HAVE to marry someone her parents want her to! Basically Merida is a feminist who should be every girl’s role model! To play this princess who is skilled in archery, spears and sword fighting (basically Disney’s Arya Stark) I put forward the name of the dazzling Kangana Ranaut!
10) Jasmine – Aladdin
Though I loved this movie for Genie, R.I.P Robin Williams 🙁 casting Jasmine looks like quite a challenge. It actually isn’t because I can only imagine one actress play the role of a gorgeous princess who is notorious for rejecting many wealthy and noble suitors because she doesn’t like to be controlled! And that actress my friends, is Deepika Padukone! Obviously Ranveer Singh is Aladdin, obviously.
