October aka “Pinktober” has been designated Breast Cancer Awareness Month globally and Ogaan Cancer Foundation has taken various initiatives to create awareness amongst people about the cause. One of their unique initiatives on social media has been the #PinkSelfie campaign where, throughout the month, celebrities will wear pink and click selfies and upload them on their social networking accounts. Sounds nice doesn’t it?
A lot of Indian celebrities like Sonam Kapoor, Nargis Fakhri, Ileana D’Cruz, Aditi Rao Hydari, Nishka Lulla, Daisy Shah, Manish Malhotra and our own #bosslady MissMalini have already taken part in this #PinkSelfie campaign and shared their pictures with information on self-examination and measures one can take for the prevention of Breast Cancer, mostly via their Instagram accounts. Good going guys!
We think this is a great initiative to create awareness about Breast Cancer, a disease which has plagued around 25% of women worldwide and has been rated the leading type of cancer found in women. Women from the age of 50 to 74 are recommended to take screenings every two years, but remember, a two-minute regular examination will help diagnose the disease early, proving a 98% chance of full recovery! Spread the word and save a life.
