The reason Aamir Khan has been lauded by many across the country, has now caused an undesired controversy in his life. The superstar’s endeavour to make India a better place by discussing several social issues on his show, has somehow backstabbed him. In one of the recent episodes of Satyameva Jayate, Khan invited several guests who have undergone many hardships in their lives because of their sexual orientation. He interacted with gay and lesbian men and women and also had a heart-to-heart chat with eunuchs and transgenders on the show. Each of them spoke about the complicated experiences that they have faced for being the way they are.
While the youth supported this initiation of Aamir wholeheartedly, the court wasn’t too pleased with it. A couple of days ago, a petition was filed against him alleging that he promoted homosexuality on his popular TV show, Satyamev Jayate. It has been said that Aamir’s conduct on the show was a violation of the Supreme Court’s order on homosexuality.
Advocate Mandeep Kaur says:
“The show, which was telecast on October 19 on a private channel, had discussed the lifestyle and rights of eunuchs and gays/lesbians, a matter on which the Supreme Court had already given its judgement.”
Aamir has been also criticized by Kaur for asking the public to vote for amendments in Section 377 of the IPC.
A few months ago, another case was filed against the actor for promoting nudity through the poster of his upcoming film, PK.
