Even after the disastrous Humshakals, Saif Ali Khan‘s popularity hasn’t been affected. Recently, however, he made a shocking revelation. It is no secret that his role in Kal Ho Na Ho was definitely a turning point in his career. You’d think that he’d be super keen to work with Shah Rukh Khan again, but he really isn’t. According to him, working with King Khan would mean that he’d have to do a smaller role in comparison and he just isn’t in the mood to do that anymore. While talking to a leading daily, he said:
I would rather play a main role in an Illuminati film. I don’t think I will get a role like Kal Ho Naa Ho ever again with Shah Rukh Khan – probably not! KHNH was almost my movie. Actors like to play larger than life and we become spoilt that we feel we that we are important enough. It took me a long time and work to graduate from second lead to main and I don’t want to go back to doing that.
Well, you gotta love the honesty! But we guess now, kal definitely nahin hoga.
Saif’s role in Dil Chahta Hai, again not the main lead, put him on the map. When asked about another collaboration with Farhan Akhtar, he doesn’t have as many reservations as he does with SRK. He said:
I played the third lead in Farhan’s film Dil Chahta Hai which became a very nice popular role. I am sure when he has a role for me it will happen. I am in talks with Excel now for a movie to be directed by Reema Kagti but not by Farhan. I would love for Farhan but maybe the kind of films he has made was suited for others.
