To have a relationship spill over from off-screen to on-sreen isn’t anything new. Time and again, more than just a few subtle hints are thrown around when actors decide to support each other’s films by appearing for a brief cameo or indulging in a dance number or two.
Considering the fact that as a couple, Saifeena is the hottest in the industry circles, it was a given that Kareena Kapoor would be featuring – at least in some capacity – in Saif Ali Khan‘s Happy Ending. Some even expected that she would be seen in a full-blown item number for the film, just like she has done for her other industry friends in the past: Salman Khan (Fevicol – Dabangg 2) and Akshay Kumar (Chinta Ta – Rowdy Rathore).
However, for director duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K., it was a task in itself to ensure that their presence doesn’t come across as a mere gimmick in Happy Ending, which is produced by Saif along with Dinesh Vijan and Sunil Lulla.
Raj & DK say:
Well, on the contrary, people have been asking us if Kareena has done a song in the film; such is the curiosity around her. I guess that’s what the audience wants too. However, we didn’t succumb to anything like that. If we needed a gimmick, we would have included an item number with Kareena. What we have done though is made sure that every role counts and an actor speaks through that. Kareena has a well defined appearance and it is charming indeed.
“Well, for Saif’s past relationships in the story, we wanted to bring in those girls with whom he has worked in the past, like Preity and Kareena,” they divulge, “On the other hand, for his current love interests, we wanted new girls, and we found them too. So in a way we are drawing a lot of parallels with his real life too, which has come out cool.”
We would see it for ourselves when the film releases all over this Friday.
