As a developing nation, India has observed endless social problems, concerning gender, sexuality and poverty issues. These social problems plaguing India has driven NGO Aastha Parivaar to host ‘Unlikely Conversations,’ an event that is part show, part conference and part brunch, all with the goal of addressing most of these issues. The event will bring together diverse individuals to exchange ideas that will explore relevant questions related to the gender, sexuality and poverty issues. It will be held at blueFROG Mumbai on Saturday, November 15, 2014 from 11am to 5pm.
The event will feature various vigorous and purposeful performances by actress Mona Ambegaonkar, comedian Aditi Mittal, representatives from Men Against Violence and Abuse, director Kaizaad Kotwal, excerpts from The Vagina Monologues, a screening of Purple Skies, a discussion curated by KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival with actress Avantika Akerkar, and more.
If you would like to be a part of the the initiative, the passes are going at Rs. 300 to watch and Rs. 2000 for the brunch. Proceeds will benefit Aastha Parivaar’s programmes for the education for the children of sex workers.
