Guess Who

Zid has released – that’s why now everything can be out in the open. Shraddha Das, who wasn’t quite willing to brush things under the carpet, was still reasonably restrained when she spoke about what happened between her and co-star Mannara during the making of the film. However, now that the film is out and the physical fight scene between the two young women is there for all to see, Shraddha isn’t holding back her emotions while narrating the chain of events that occurred during the shoot.

Mannara

For the uninitiated, Shraddha had accused Mannara of causing her injury during the shoot of Zid. Even though tidbits around the incident made headlines, we went deep down into the series of incidents and have a ‘blow by blow‘ account to give you – no pun intended. In an exclusive conversation, Shraddha bares her heart out and gives a first person account of why she preferred to stay quiet when the film was being shot.

I had to be professional

I couldn’t tell me parents about the injuries that Mannara was causing me as they would have immediately asked me to leave the film and come back. I couldn’t do that as it would have been unprofessional. Since Ratna Sinha and Anubhav Sinha have been very supportive with me in the case of every wrong that happened to me, I couldn’t jeopardize their shoot. To my horror though, when I returned for the shoot, Mannara did the same thing to me again. This time I said ‘cut’ and told everyone that I could not continue this way. My director advised me to have a conversation with Mannara and sort it out. She apologized to me and we continued the shoot, but unfortunately things didn’t change.

Method acting is an excuse

Big actors like Naseeruddin Shah and Rekha are known to bring in method to their performances. They don’t mind being slapped in reality to get the right reaction. But then to play a murderer, you don’t end up murdering someone. You can slap me but don’t beat me black and blue constantly. There is a limit to how much you can beat anyone. I may have no background but then you can’t torture me. I didn’t have anyone to stand up for me. There was another guy also who got so scared of her that he requested for a duplicate. Later, even his arm got fractured.

We tried contacting Mannara to hear her side of the story. However, all she said was that her focus was on her work and release, and hence she didn’t wish to react to such accusations.
