I was stalking Shah Rukh Khan on the Internet (like that’s something new) which basically made me want to do a movie marathon of some of his best movies! Now tell me – what do you think was common between all these wonderful movies? Think, think..! Yes his character name, RAJ! So, on that note I have decided to rank all the Rajs played by the king of my heart, because I know we need to know which Raj is the best Raj. Feel free to tell me your preferences as well 🙂
7) Raj Malhotra (Heyy Babyy)
At number 7 is Shah Rukh Khan’s cameo in Heyy Babyy whose name was…*drumrolls* Raj Malhotra! This Raj ranks the lowest only because of the length of the role. Needless to add, the song and the one scene he featured in were the best part of Heyy Babyy!
Let’s all Mast Kalandar!
6) Raj (Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi)
Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is such an underrated gem, no? But the king here was Surinder ‘Suri’ Sahani, his alter-ego Raj was fun (in a tacky way but still fun) but this Raj had nothing on Suri ji.
Even his wonderful proposal wasn’t as nice as Suri’s soul. I know they’re the same person but you know.. it’s about the personality.
Sorry Raj, #SuriIsSexy
5) Raj Mathur (Chalte Chalte)
Before interval: What a charming, funny and adorable man! Priya doesn’t need money, she has such a wonderful guy!
After interval: Oh my God, this guy can be mean, like really REALLY mean.
As a matter of fact, I really liked the ‘other‘ (read: more real) side of the ever-wonderful Raj our movies have always shown us. It was good to see what actually happens after the happily every after phase, but the Raj of Chalte Chalte is ranked here because the other Rajs were better!
4) Raj Aryan Malhotra (Mohabbatein)
Brings love to Gurukul, makes the three younger guys seem bearable to the opposite sex AND fights with Amitabh Bachchan! All of this while having fun conversations and sharing sweet moments with Aishwarya Rai‘s spirit. This Raj was a fantastic multi-tasker and that is why he deserves this position.
3) Raj Heera (Baadshah)
I honestly think this is one of the best Shah Rukh Khan movies. Thankfully people now watch this cult movie with the love and reverence it deserved when it was ready but it never got! I also LOVE this song so listen to it while you marvel on how great this Raj is.
2) Raj Mathur (Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman)
Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman is one of the first glimpses of the name that would later become one of his identities (the other being Rahul). This Juhi Chawla and Shah Rukh Khan starrer was adorable and due to nostalgia it ranks no.2!
1) Raj Malhotra (Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge)
WHO COULD DOUBT THIS WHO WHO WHO?
Everyone’s favourite Bollywood movie has completed 1000 weeks and I know everyone knows that. I also know that you will be all dressed up and ready to go to Maratha Mandir to re-watch this again.
Which Raj rules your heart?
