The super grand launch of Shamitabh starring Amitabh Bachchan, Dhanush and Akshara Hassan was everything one would want to see in a movie based on actors and their mammoth egos! A mix of Dhanush and Amitabh, the title itself is so interesting that the expectations were already high regarding this R. Balki venture, who in the past has given us gems like Paa and Cheeni Kum. The extremely crowded Eros theater showed us how excited people were to have a look at their favourite superstars, so here are the top 7 moments from the trailer launch exclusively for you!
Known to be profound method actors, Mr. Bachchan and Dhanush literally didn’t see eye-to-eye (maybe because they had sunglasses on) and sat on different ends of the row. Why do you think they did that? Clash of egos? Internal fighting? North-South divide? Actually no, they had the highest regard and a lot of love for each other…the whole sitting seperately was because two Shamitabhs can’t sit together, can they?
When asked if she was scared of working with two of these stalwarts, Akshara was refreshingly honest when she answered with a resounding yes! But she then gave credit to her director and her two co-stars for being extremely supportive and fun.
“I agreed to co-produce Shamitabh because I was the inspiration behind it“- Gauri Shinde, speaking on her husband’s latest venture. I love this intelligent and talented power couple of Bollywood!
A reporter asked Mr. Bachchan to comment on the Indian team selected to represent us at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 and he smartly said “I’ll ask them to watch Shamitabh“, after the laughter died down, he said “I wish the team all the best and he knows the cup is ours!” Woot Woot!
Dhanush was extremely sweet during the media interaction and when asked why he wasn’t really seen in conventional Bollywood movies, he said that down South he has a specific image which restricts his choice of movies, but here he has nothing to lose. Hope he continues to shine in this off-beaten path.
When asked about whether he feels Dhanush and Akshara live up to the legacy created by the southern superstars, Mr. Bachchan answered it in his own inimitable style saying that Dhanush and Akshara don’t need to follow any legacy. They can create their own. Touché!
A journalist asked if Mr. Bachchan shared screen space with Rekha in Shamitabh, he said that they’re not in the same scene hence he did not get the chance to work with her. When asked if he’s willing to star in a movie with her, Mr. Bachchan replied with the safe “if the script is good” statement. Dodged a bullet I guess.
Fun interaction wasn’t it? Have a look at the awesome trailer!
We were already in love with the cool posters of this movie and we can totally say the same about the trailer!
