Our very own Priyanka Chopra has lent her voice to a feature film called ‘Girl Rising‘ which was directed by the Oscar nominated director, Richard E. Robbins and we couldn’t be more proud! The film highlights nine stories of young women from around the world who have used education to rise above poverty and adversity. PeeCee has provided a voice-over in English as well as Hindi for the film.
While the Indian story features PeeCee’s voice, the film also has voice-overs by Academy Award winning, hollywood actresses Anne Hathaway, Cate Blanchett and Meryl Streep as well as the voice of pop star Selena Gomez. We love hearing all these beautiful and talented women from all over the world unite for one amazing purpose! #GirlPower
Although PeeCee is known to shuttle from country to country, she dubbed this particular movie in India. The Indian story was written by Sooni Taraporewala – the award winning screenwriter of films like Mississippi Masala and Salaam Bombay.
Priyanka Chopra got together with Freida Pinto (who has also lent her voice to the film) in New Delhi to launch this multi-level global campaign, ‘Girl Rising’. The two beauties stood strong in spreading awareness about the importance of girls rights to education. With such fiercely inspirational women representing girls all over the world – we truly can say girls run the world!
Way to go ladies – Make sure you watch! One girl with courage, is a revolution indeed! #GirlRising
