Three years after the unveiling of its promo, the Nana Patekar starrer Ab Tak Chappan 2 (sequel to the brilliant Ab Tak Chappan) is back in the game. The film has been brought out of cold storage and is now being planned for a 27th February release. While it seemed earlier that all was lost for the sequel to this Shimit Amin film, its sudden revival has come across as a pleasant surprise.

Launched close to half a decade ago, Ab Tak Chappan 2 had created massive curiosity since the first in the series was much appreciated. Though it wasn’t Shimit but Aejaz Gulab who was roped in to call the shots, the film’s recall value warranted good audience. Also, with Gul Panag added to the cast along with Vikram Gokhale, Govind Namdeo, Ashutosh Rana, Mohan Agashe and Dilip Prabhawalkar, it appeared to be a formidable combination.

However, the film took time to reach the finishing line while a further dent to the plans came in once the promo saw a low profile launch online. Though it did make an impression, sources close to Nana Patekar had claimed that he was unhappy with the manner in which the promo was cut and unveiled. While there was no official word from anyone attached to the film, the rumors as well as the buzz died down gradually once there was no follow up to the promotion for three years.

Our source informs:

Well, the buzz is bound to get better now that the film is releasing this month. To begin with, a brand new promo is the need of the hour as that would have to be in accordance to the taste of today’s audience. In the times of cops from South remakes all over the big screen, it would be a welcome change to see Nana Patekar return as Maharashtrian cop Sadhu Agashe.

With the publicity material proclaiming that ‘This time it is personal’ and the count of killings also increasing from 56 to well into the 70s, one can well expect a blood-filled vengeance saga ahead.
