We already told you about luxury label, Satya Paul collaborating with Gauri Khan. The tropical collection is set to be in all flagship Satya Paul stores this month and we promised to speak to Gauri about the collection. So in an exclusive interview with Team MissMalini, Mrs Shah Rukh Khan dishes about her style, holidays that inspire her and what’s next for her in fashion. Here are some excerpts…
On telling us about her signature style,
Classic, feminine and most importantly, comfortable
On the holiday that inspired her ‘Tropical Wonder’ collection
It was the time we spent in Phuket. The beaches were untouched and the colors very vivid. It seemed like the perfect memory to get inspired by for a summer collection.
How it felt working on her first design venture
I wanted to recreate that ease and fantasy that a holiday promises . We created lush prints on casual and occasional wear separates like sheer tunics, flowing kaftans, shift dresses other than sarees. They have been tailored to exude a natural poise, making them perfect for summer.
On what’s next for Gauri Khan the designer
I think this year has a lot of interesting projects lined up and I’m sure leading the design direction at Satya Paul will be a novel experience for me.
On her favourite Satya Paul piece
I love my sarees, they have had a special place in my wardrobe and I think Satya Paul has always done beautiful ones!
