The ’60s have always been my favourite fashion decade! With summer just around the corner, you’re probably wondering what trends you should be trying. Let me tell you this – it’s going to be the year of the “new boho”. No, I am not talking about hippie kaftans, fringed tunics, flower headbands, or the kind of clothes you’d generally spot at Coachella. If you’re a big fan of hipster outfits like me, it’s time to make bohemian-inspired styles more wearable for your everyday life – whether you’re going to the office or anywhere else.

1. Swing the ’60s
To make sure you have the right idea of what new boho looks like, pair your eclectic prints with classic silhouettes, giving structured pieces a touch of the ’60s. I worked with basic ripped shorts, a printed cropped tee and paired it with an oversized flowery jacket – of course boots, because you’re not really in the ’60s if you’re not doing the boots!

Channel your inner boho with accessories. See how I chose bright turquoise colored ‘peace’ earrings and a spiked bracelet, to keep my look contemporary, yet very laid-back at the same time.

2. Flared Sirens
On the sexier side, drop waisted flared pants could be your way to formal dressing, but with a boho twist.

Don’t forget your accessories. Even if it has to be one earring, make it a bright coloured dream catcher to instantly highlight the bright coloured trend of the late ’60s.

3. Flower Power
Infuse some flower power in to your weekly outfits. While the hot pink might look like a top, it’s actually a dress from Vero Moda which I paired with a solid skater skirt, boots and a simple head band to create the hippie chic vibe.

Just experimenting with your clothing will make for one of the more interesting outfits you have ever styled before.

You don’t always have to be loud, whimsical or avant-garde to stand out of the crowd. Even a simple outfit with a little attention to detailing and style will work wonders.
