It’s more than a 1000 degrees outside and you’re afraid to step out from the comfort of your air conditioned home, and fashion is the last thing on your mind. Instead of having fun with fashion and putting together cute outfits, we are trying to figure out how not to sweat through our clothes. Summers in India are brutal and no amount of watermelon juices can help your cause. For those days when you’d rather go naked than get dressed (as in, the dog days of summer), we at BandraRoad have put together a few outfit inspirations on how to look hot and stay cool.

T-shirt dresses in cotton, light jersey or linen are perfect to beat the heat. They look great and allow ventilation, and god knows how much we need that during summers. Sticking to light fabrics is key. This is perfect for a casual lunch date. You can dress up this look with wedges for a night out.

Cotton t-shirts and shorts are the best combination for a sunny day. Tie a shirt around your waist for that extra coolness or just incase you walk into an air-conditioned mall and need an extra layer.

Oversized tees are the best option this season. If you don’t have one, borrow it from your boyfriend. Trust me, stay away from fitted clothes, they come with unwanted sweat patches. Try a loose tee with shorts, jeans or skirts. They look good and will keep you looking cool.

Think Chinos this summer. They are lighter than jeans and come in a variety of colours. Team them up with sneakers and a tee and you’re ready to face the day looking cute and confident.

Women with strict office dress code jobs find it harder to dress for the summer. But don’t worry, I would suggest loose, white, cotton shirts with printed pants like this. Work outfits can be boring, but not if you add a bit of colour and print.
