Box Office Report: Bollywood’s Latest Releases Add To The Flop Tally; Dum Laga Ke Haisha Scores Again

Dum Laga Ke Haisha

As expected, there were hardly any cheers for the new releases as each of them turned out to be a flop at the box office.

Hey Bro didn’t have any audience to begin with and terrible reviews killed it further. There was hardly any buzz around the film and even semi-decent songs couldn’t pull any audience. Badmashiyaan – Fun Never Ends had no fun and it ended its run before it could even start, what with no show at the box office from day one itself. As for Coffee Bloom, the makers of such Indie films need to realise that such films can work only if there is some promotion. Don’t expect a film to release without any preamble and expect it to find audiences all by itself.

Coffee Bloom

Amongst the new release, expectedly only Dirty Politics found some audience for itself and that was courtesy some face value of the K.C. Bokadia’s political-social drama. The name Mallika Sherawat did pull in some patrons in interiors that are frequented by the gentry. However, even amongst this segment of audience, there were no massive queues. Furthermore, the reviews were terrible, as a result of which the weekend collections stood below the 5 crore* mark.

Dum Laga Ke Haisha

This is where Dum Laga Ke Haisha took best advantage of the situation with a second weekend (over 7 crore*) turning out to be even better than the first weekend (6 crore). As a result, the film’s collections stand at over 18 crore*, which is quite good for this mid-budget Yash Raj production that has good legs to continue its run right through the month. Even at limited screens, the film is fetching audience purely on the basis of fantastic word of mouth. For Ayushmann Khurranna, this is a major turnaround after Hawaizaada and expectedly, he is smiling from ear to ear.
