It may have seemed like a straight forward item number on the lines of many a Yo Yo Honey Singh track that have been centered on ‘chaar botal vodka‘ and beyond. This is what Russian model Natalia Kapchuk too believed when she signed up for the hot-n-sizzling track Tipsy Hogai after her friend Japinder Kaur Baweja approached her to step into the arena for her debut feature film Dilliwalli Zaalim Girlfriend.

However, even though quite a few responses have been positive with many comparing her with Sunny Leone (it is no mere coincidence that Ms. Leone’s Desi Look has released almost simultaneously), there have been a few nasty comments which haven’t quite carried a positive intent.

Says a source:

Some people have criticized the video in a very racist manner. Now that is surprising because we as a nation are usually the ones fighting and screaming against racism. Now when a Russian, who is doing quite well in her own field anyways, has stepped into Bollywood, there is unnecessary brouhaha being made about it.

With social media coming up with its own pros and cons, Natalia – who is also a Dubai based businesswoman and an avid painter – is letting it all soak in.

According to Japinder, he says:

I know how she thinks and I am sure she will only emerge stronger. Not many know that she isn’t new to the world of glamour. She was Miss Siberia 2002 and has been a prominent international celebrity ever since then. What makes her unique is the fact that she’s an entrepreneur with her own business set up in Dubai. When she does a song like Tipsy Hogai, it only showcases a different facet of her personality because it shows how she can balance glamour world so very well with other demanding businesses. She is the true epitome of ‘beauty with brains’.

This is what Natalia demonstrated well during the making of this song as well when she made sure that lip synching to the Punjabi and Hindi words didn’t come across as odd on screen.

Japinder says:

That’s right. For the song, Dr. Zeus gave the music and Natalia caught on to the essence bang on. Moreover, she also worked extremely hard on her Hindi and Punjabi by taking lessons over Skype for 6 months. She deserves all the love for the viewers, and such insinuations around racism are truly uncalled for.

We agree.
