Ok, it’s just 2 more days to go and I know it’s a big week for the designers participating, but it’s got us all a bit nervous. While the fittings are on in full swing at the Palladium Hotel, we managed to get our hands on a few sketches some of the designers have made for their collections. From what inspired them to what their collections are called and what they look like – here are sketches from Suneet Varma, Tarun Tahiliani, Shivan & Narresh, Satya Paul and Arpita Mehta.
1. Suneet Varma
An array of reds and pinks, Suneet Varma’s collection titled ‘Decorative Arts of India’ is expected to be romantic, feminine and flirtatious. It’s also a step away from Varma’s signature style.
2. Tarun Tahiliani
Fashion and art come together for Tarun Tahiliani’s collection this Spring Summer. With The Singh Twins as his inspiration, Tahiliani’s designs feature some of their paintings digitally printed on to clothing.
3. Shivan & Narresh
Titled ‘Henri’s Garden’, Shivan & Narresh’s collection is one of the shows that will take place away from the usual MSA at fashion week. Inspired by French artist Henri Rousseau, the designs are expected to come with a whole lot of foliage, cut-outs and jewels.
4. Satya Paul
Marking Gauri Khan‘s first design venture, we already know that the collection is inspired by some of Gauri’s travels. Titled ‘A Tropical Wonder’, we can expect bright saris, flowing kaftans and gorgeous shift dresses
5. Arpita Mehta
Soft, flirty and dreamy, Arpita Mehta’s Royal Summer Affair finds inspiration in a girl from a royal family whose only wish for the summer is to let loose and have fun.
Are you loving what you see? Stay tuned, we have hangouts with some of the designers and some great Lakmé Fashion Week prizes to be won! Watch this space 🙂
