Think Sabyasachi and two words come to mind: Bridal finery. He changed this at his show. Gone were the ornate saris and ultra-formal lehengas; last night was all about a modern Sabyasachi, backed by a whole lot of the ’70s – it was about Big Love. Shimmer, shine, glitter and metallics came neatly packed around a canvas of florals mixed with prints like you’ve never seen before. Palazzo pants, trouser saris and dreamy dresses; it was a side of Sabyasachi we never thought existed.
Held in the Richardson & Cruddas Mill, pop tunes, lasers and drone cameras were all a part of the same show.
While his work reminded you of his usual self, the silhouettes raised eyebrows all around the room, and just with that, the collection received what it set out to give – Big Love!
