Even as rumors are flying thick that Taapsee Pannu is one of the contenders for Aamir Khan’s Dangal, the fact remains that the pretty Punjabi kudi hasn’t signed a new film since Agra Ka Daabra. While she gears up to begin shooting with Ayushmann Khurranna for this film later this month – she isn’t in any hurry to sign another new film.
Well, it is great that Baby worked and it has been my most seen film till date. In that sense, the film has really helped me in reaching out to a much larger audience base. Now I can’t afford to do anything silly. I now have a national audience to cater to.
says Taapsee, who won quite some acclaim for her powerful action packed performance in the film.
Though she has been in the industry for a while after doing quite a few films down South, she is taking her steps very carefully before picking her next assignment.
I no longer think that out of sight would be out of mind because I understand that action coming out of such mindset can sometimes backfire. I have grown beyond the point where I won’t be doing a movie just to be in news. I don’t get anxious.
She didn’t have to go through such anxious times for her last release Baby though, which was powered by the superstar presence of Akshay Kumar, and hence had enjoyed Republic Day holiday release. Her experience with Neeraj Pandey as a director has further reinforced her belief in making sure that the person who directs her comes with an absolutely clear mindset and thought process.
I rely on my director to tell me if my performance is right or wrong. Neeraj helped me get the tone of the character right before the first schedule itself. Same was the case with Amit Roy as well who was a great help, despite Running Shaadi.com being his first release. Now for Agra Ka Daabra too my director wants me to learn the whole language and tehzeeb that is so very necessary for my character. I am following all the advice coming my way.
concludes Taapsee.
