Yup, you read right. This is as exclusive as it gets and none other than the powerful, Shabana Azmi and designer genius, Manish Malhotra are hosting the event. The event is this Saturday, on April 4th, 2015 and it’s known as the Mijwan Fashion Week. Why Mijwan, you ask? For those of you who may not know, Mijwan is a village in UP and home to Shabana Azmi’s late father, Kaifi Azmi. Shabana Azmi and her goddaughter, Namrata Goyal continue his legacy of developing the town in the most fabulous way possible: Chikankari work!
Manish Malhotra has adopted the Mijwan Sewing And Embroidery Center in Mijwan and takes help from the women of the town to add this beautiful traditional touch to his designs. For the last four years, he has been putting together a fashion show to showcase the talent of these wonderful women, a very exclusive, by-invite only event. This year the theme is ‘Legacy’ and we think it couldn’t have been more apt.
Celebrities in attendance this year will be Sonam Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Farhan Akhtar, Javed Akhtar, Shatrugan Sinha, Sonakshi Sinha, and more! Sounds like quite the family affair doesn’t it? We love seeing Bollywood come together for a good cause and for the love of fashion: two of our favorite things!
