The IPL may be upon us, but some of us – most of us! – are still suffering from a World Cup hangover. We may not have brought the cup home this time, but we can, at least, take comfort that Team India did everything they could to cling on to this cup. It wasn’t just the cup that we were trying to cling on to, though: Team India – and players from other teams, too – managed to cling on to a bunch of other things. And in celebration of that, we (along with the lovely folks over at Castrol Activ, who are responsible for taking all of India to the World Cup in Australia) thought we’d have a little fun by showing you who we thought really clung on this WC. Have a look:

He’s not called Captain Cool for nothing. M S Dhoni is perhaps the most calm, level-headed captain the Indian team has ever known.

The Cling On To A Partnership Award…

One of cricket’s greatest bromances came to an end with this World Cup. Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jaywardene completed their 148th – and last – ODI partnership, with 5959 runs between them.

The Cling On To The Ball Award…

New Zealand’s Daniel Vettori‘s stunning catch to dismiss West Indies’ Marlon Samuels was definitely one of the highlights of this tournament.

You guys! Thanks to Castrol, you were all at the boundaries cheering on Team India. Seriously, I don’t think we can claim that Australia had a home advantage at all. 🙂
