GAME OF THRONES SEASON 5 RETURNS! The sentimental value I’ve attached to this show and George R R Martin‘s books is borderline unhealthy. Last year, my best friend Shreeya Manjeshwar and I (who helped me put this list together and also made me watch Cosmos) would watch every damn episode together! I’d bunk work every Monday (I won’t do that here Malini and Nowshad, I swear) and land up at her place to nerd out on HBO’s fantastic series. Now she’s gone off to New York and here I am ranking the deaths from Season 1 – 4, because that’s how pointless my life is. Let me know what you think!
15) Talisa Stark
Look at her smile!
The smile didn’t last that long though. I liked Talisa, she was strong willed, pretty and a perfect match to the young wolf. Sadly she was a casualty in this complicated Game Of Thrones. I was pretty sad when she died, but her death didn’t make THAT much of a difference to this stony heart of mine.
14) Viserys Targaryen
Daenerys’s brother was definitely not a dragon and definitely not worth being king.
He did get a golden crown though. I liked Viserys though, he was annoying but entertaining.
13) Ros
The prettiest in Westeros.
Sadly, she met this little git called Joffrey. Ros shouldn’t have died, but her death didn’t like shatter me or something!
12) Robert Baratheon
Robert was a lot like the drunk uncle you avoid at family gatherings.
Died because with a wife like Cersei… what can you expect? Bye Robert, you lived an eventful life.
11) Lysa Arryn
Weird. Creepy. Scary.
But also a very sad character. She loved just one man, did everything he wanted her to do (like killing her husband and starting a war) and yet he was the one who killed her. Why did he do that? Because he found her sister hotter!
10) Renly Baratheon
So nice Renly was and so cute!
His death was creepy AF! Especially the scene before where Melisandre gives birth to that ghost baby that goes on to kill this cutie. Ugh!
9) Shae
The one true love of Tyrion‘s life.
Betrayed him when he needed support the most. But her death did make me sad. She was an interesting character wasn’t she?
8) Khal Drogo

Don’t go my sun and stars!
7) Robb Stark
The young wolf :'(
Red Wedding. Why? Why? Why?
6) Ygritte
He did know something didn’t he Ygritte? Eh? Eh?
Her death scene was one of the most emotional moments in Season 4. Jon Snow was happy for like a few minutes and bam! She’s gone too.
5) Catelyn Stark
Also known as Mother Hen and Cat (for Littlefinger)
I know Catelyn basically started the war because she wrongfully imprisoned Tyrion Lannister. But come on, Catelyn was a strong woman and she valiantly tried to fight the Freys and Boltons before being killed.
4) Tywin Lannister
God, Tywin was horrible, but what a character!
His death was amazing! Watching Tyrion Lannister attack his father with a crossbow was applause worthy. Maybe because Tywin was pooping while he was dying! Wow.
3) Joffrey Baratheon
What an asshole!
But what an entertaining asshole! I don’t think a character’s death has made the entire world so happy!
2) Ned Stark
Poor Ned.
Poor, poor Ned. This scene still hurts.
1) Oberyn Martell
Marry me Oberyn!
