The Step Up by Johnnie Walker is India’s first digital mentorship program and Mumbai hosted its fabulous grand finale. After an exciting journey of four weeks, 9 talented participants got the opportunity to showcase their talent in the presence of their mentors and Mumbai’s glitterati.
Who’re the mentors, you ask? Well, only the coolest men from the business – the fabulous fashion designer, Nikhil Thampi, the coolest celebrity chef, Nikhil Chib and the amazing music dudes, the Midival Punditz – who were all very excited about mentoring such great talent.

From pop-up restaurants to celebrity styling to creation of original tracks with limited instruments – The Step Up provided for a unique platform for the participants to put their best foot forward. One winner from each field was offered a six month apprenticeship with Nikhil Thampi and Nikhil Chib, respectively and the best performer in music got to be a part of an exclusive four-city tour with Midival Punditz.
Mr. Bhavesh Somaya, Head of Luxury, United Spirits Limited – a Diageo Group Company was present at The Grand Finale to congratulate the champions on their well-deserved win and he wished them success for all their future endeavors.
The grand finale night saw a live cook-off between the contestants – each of whom dished out some amazing delicacies. The fashion mentees showcased their very impressive collection, where each was distinct from the other. And the night ended with some soul stirring music by team Midival Punditz and was an apt end to a fabulous night!
Even though Paresh won the live cook-off between him and Shikhar, the winner of the entire season was Shikhar. Shikhar now has a life changing opportunity to intern with Chef Nikhil Chib for six whole months. Arpit, Sameer and Viraj threw an amazing performance. As tough of a choice as it was, The Midival Punditz awarded Viraj as the winner. With a shiny trophy and an exclusive feature on their upcoming album, Viraj was on top of the world. Nikhil Thampi also had a tough decision to make. However, among his three finalists, Rishika, Ashish and Kankika, Rishika took home the prize for her beautiful designs.
