Makeup is meant to bring out your natural beauty and enhance your features. The key to a flawless glow is good skin. So, it’s imperative to stick to a skincare routine that can make you a better version of yourself, but makeup never harms!

For all you beauty bugs, we’re listing down everything you need to know to take your makeup to the next level. Femina Believe’s Makeup Expert, Pinky Asnani is letting you in on the mistakes you can avoid while getting ready. Are you prepared to transform into a more fabulous you?

Foundation

During the day, a liquid foundation is great! Now, we don’t need to tell you how important sunscreen is. You could mix your favourite SPF with your liquid foundation and blend, blend, blend!

Makeup Faux Pas: Cakey texture.

Tip: Less is more when it comes to any beauty product. Remember to blend evenly. Try using a kabuki brush.

Mascara

Mascara has the power to deepen and define your eyes. For a minimal makeup look, you could just opt for mascara and you’re all set! For more, check this out!

Makeup Faux Pas: Clumpy lashes

Tip: Curl your lashes from roots to the tip for a full coverage. However, too many layers could amount to clumping and a fake-ish look. If you happen to smudge it into your skin, don’t worry, let it dry out and then remove it with a q-tip!

Eyebrows

Eyebrows are one of the most important, if not eye-catching features of your face! They define and bring out the beauty of your eyes.

Makeup Faux Pas: Over-lined and dark eyebrows.

Tip: Excess filling will make it look too dark. Balanced eyebrows are key! Remember, the eye pencil is meant for filling in the blank spaces, not to create new eyebrows. Use a brow powder with an angled brush in the direction of your hair to fill in.

Blush

Using a cream or powder-based blush could add warmth and colour to your face. Opt for a matte blush for the daytime and a shimmer based one for the night!

Makeup Faux Pas: Barbie doll-like appearance due to too much application.

Tip: The rule of less is more applies here too. For a powder based one, dust off the excess from your brush and then apply. Too much will make it look like someone hit you in the face! No one wants to step out like that.

Bronzer

Contouring might be a new-age trend, but we wish we had been doing this all our lives! For more on contouring, check this out!

Makeup Faux Pas: Bronzer that looks like lines.

Tip: No one likes a patchy bronzer (whether it’s cream, liquid, or powder). So for an even application, just blend with a soft hand from up to down and try rounded motions.

Lipstick

Lipstick can make your outfit just pop! And it’s summer guys, so it’s time to bring out all those bright colours!

Makeup Faux Pas: Bleeding lipstick.

Tip: To keep your lipstick from fading, use a lip liner to fill in your lips. Line your lips, after which you can go in for your lipstick or lipgloss.
