Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s new ad for a jewellery brand came out yesterday and was instantly criticised for being racist! Aish received major flak on all social media platforms for showcasing child labour and racism. An open letter was one of the major backlashes she received. And now, the actress has released a statement in response to the open letter, along with an image of her shot. She said,
On the onset we would like to thank you on drawing our attention to the observation of the perception of the advertisement. Here is an attachment of the shot taken by somebody during the shoot. The final layout of the ad is entirely the prerogative of the creative team for a brand. However, shall forward your article as a viewpoint that can be taken into consideration by the creative team of professional working on the brand visual communication.
It’s fair to say that like any other ad, the set design is upto the creative team, while the actor is mostly unaware of the edits made.
