Quite good. What Zoya Akhtar has done quite smartly is that she has played by her strengths and delivered exactly what was expected out of her. Post the release of her last movie, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, she has managed to build a good fan following for herself (most of which happens to be from the metro cities and urban India). This is the reason why even though her last multi-starrer was a good success (albeit it just missed out on the 100-crore mark), it has managed to gain cult audience over the years, especially amidst youth. That has helped the recollection value quite immensely.
Now, with Dil Dhadakne Do, she has quite clearly upped the ante and that reflects in the humor quotient. The film could well bring in a kind of turnaround for filmmaking, just like it had done almost a decade and a half ago when Farhan Akhtar had made his debut as a director with Dil Chahta Hai.
While neither Dil Chahta Hai nor Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara were a great success at the single screens, Dil Dhadakne Do may do a little better due to its heavy duty star-cast of Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma, Farhan Akhtar and Anil Kapoor. However, at the multiplexes, it would enjoy one of the biggest openings since the film has class written all over it.
