The judgement is out, Salman Khan has to face 5 years in jail under sec. 304 II of the Indian Penal Code. The judge read out the quantum of the punishment at 1.10pm in the Sessions Court. The defense lawyers tried hard to keep Salman off jail time by stating that the star has been suffering from a brain ailment which will worsen if sent to jail and that he also has a heart problem. Salman’s lawyers pleaded for 2 years imprisonment and fine whereas the prosecutors were seeking maximum punishment. Since the jail term is over 3 years, Salman will not be able to apply for bail. The next step for Salman is to appeal to the High Court, Salman is being taken directly into police custody now. The police will then decide which jail he will be placed in. According to reports, Salman may be taken to the Arthur Road jail tonight.
