7 Life Lessons We’ve Learnt From Bollywood Moms!

Friends, Mother’s Day is coming this weekend! Yay! I don’t even need to elaborate on the importance of our birth-givers. We all know how necessary the presence of mothers has been in Bollywood, so much so, one of the most iconic lines in movie history is Mere paas maa hai. Seeing how well mothers go with Bollywood, here’s a list of the 7 important life lessons I learnt from them!

1) Patriotism from Anjali (Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham)

She kept her darling Krish (who has grown up to be quite a hottie BTW) as close to his roots as any NRI lady possibly could! Her kid did seem a little annoyed first but the boy sang the Indian National Anthem so well, even the British had to stand and applaud. Would this happen without Anjali? Nope.

2) First love from Tina (Kuch Kuch Hota Hai)

Eight year old Anjali’s success as a cupid is solely due to the expert training she received via her late mother’s letters. Even though Rahul and Anjali (the adult one) were totally made for each other, you cannot deny the fact that it was Tina who made us realise how important first love is!

3) Faith from Durga (Karan Arjun)

Durga was the most important part of Karan Arjun, hands down. Her faith was so strong, her dead sons took another birth just to avenge her! Whoaaa.

4) Kindness from Jenny (Kal Ho Naa Ho)

Jenny was definitely not a regular mom, she was a very cool mom. Which other mother would bring her cheating husband’s daughter home and raise her as her own?

5) Standing up for the right thing Sumitra Devi (Deewar)

Sumitra never hesitated in calling out Vijay‘s crimes (even though he was her favourite son) and for that, and various other reasons, we applaud one of the most iconic mothers of Indian cinema!

6) Acceptance from Mrs. Acharya (Dostana)

Mrs. Acharya, whose name is interestingly not mentioned in Dostana goes against everything she has believed in and accepts Abhishek and John as a couple. So what if their relationship is fake? It’s the gesture that matters you guys.

7) Overall badassery from Radha (Mother India)

The entire movie is a homage to how strong a mother can be. Go watch it again.

Happy Mother’s Day 🙂
