It’s a good day today as Mid-Day showed the world that it’s not like every other newspaper in India. The paper was daring enough to publish a matrimonial advertisement for a gay man. The man in question is Harish Iyer, an equal rights activist whose mother wanted to put up an advertisement for a suitable groom for her son. As reported in Buzzfeed India, Harish approached a news publication to carry an ad in their matrimonial pages. When the first paper refused, he decided to take this up as a social cause and approached various other news publications, only Mid-Day took it up and printed his (actually his wonderful and supportive mother’s) ad in their section.
