It’s been 11 years since Hum Tum released you guys! 11 whole years! Oh God, how old are we? Anyway, Kunal Kohli has been tweeting about the support he received from his star cast while he made this romantic comedy. Hum Tum will always remain my favourite go-to movie whenever I’m low, so on it’s 11th anniversary, here are a few things you might not know about it!

1) It was loosely based on When Harry Met Sally.

Watch them back to back and write down the differences and similarities. Who goes out on Thursday nights anyway right?

2) This was Saif Ali Khan’s first movie as a solo lead after YEARS!

If Dil Chahta Hai resurrected Saif’s acting career, Hum Tum made him a bonafide superstar.

3) When Rishi Kapoor meets Kirron Kher, she says her nickname is Bobby.

He says, “Why don’t I call you Dimple?” This was in reference to Dimple Kapadia, Rishi’s co-star in their debut movie –  Bobby.

4) Rishi Kapoor plays Saif’s father and sings a song while at the Paris airport.

The song, Main Shayar To Nahin is also from Bobby!

5) In the scene where Jimmy Shergill picks up Rani Mukerji and Kirron Kher from the airport, the song Andekhi Anjani Si is playing in the car.

That song is from Kunal Kohli‘s first movie Mujhse Dosti Karoge.

6) Aditya Chopra was planning to make an adaptation of When Harry Met Sally with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, supported by Rani Mukerji.

But that did not materialise and Kunal Kohli made Hum Tum instead. I often wonder how the movie would have turned out to be with SRK and Kajol!

7) Vivek Oberoi was offered Saif ‘s role!

8) Aamir Khan and Hrithik Roshan were also offered the role of Karan Kapoor.

9) When Saif was trying many different hairdos for this movie, one of the assistants said “This looks like Tom Cruise style” for one of the hairstyles.

Director Kunal Kohli heard this and included it in the script. Saif thought that it was too childish, but Kunal was able to convince him.

10) When the film was started, it was titled Na Jaane Kab Pyaar Ho Gaya
