This year IIFA Awards is happening in Malaysia, but do you remember the IIFA that happened back in 2002 in the same country? Yep, it’s been 13 whole years since the last IIFA hosted by this beautiful nation, so here’s a list of the 13 epic things that happened in 2002 to prepare us all for all the craziness that will happen at IIFA 2015!
1) Kaante’s music was launched at IIFA!
Remember the times Jaane Kya Hoga Rama Re was every guy’s ringtone? Good times!
2) There was an IIFA Karaoke Party!
Where the stars partied and sang like there was no tomorrow. I bet someone sang a Backstreet Boys song, I bet that someone was Salman Khan. I don’t know, I have a feeling he did.
3) The World Premiere of Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar’s Aankhen happened.
Yea, Phatela Jeb Sil Jaayega one!
I know you’re singing that song now.
4) Lara Dutta was the host!
Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor might be funny as hell, but Lara was da bomb!
5) Lagaan took home the top honours.
Still gives me goosebumps, the last scene.
6) Saif Ali Khan won his very first IIFA award.
Beating the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Akshaye Khanna and Kulbhushan Kharbanda in the Best Supporting Actor category.
7) Gracy Singh won an award!
And then went on to do a movie with KRK.
8) Feroz Khan was in high spirits.
9) No, really!
10) Arjun Rampal won the Best Debut award!
For this gem of a movie called Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat.
11) Aamir Khan didn’t show up.
Like that’s surprising!
12) Ameesha Patel was nominated in the Best Actress category!
Now she’s promoting an eyewear brand one has never seen at a shop, or even heard of for that matter.
13) AND FINALLY, SALMAN KHAN LOOKED LIKE THIS!
