Being someone who resides in Thane but having the fortitude (hell, yes – read 3 hours of travelling and a complete cultural shock!) to enroll in a South Mumbai college, I am well-acquainted to both the sides of this coin. On my first day in college, I noticed that townies step out in clothes that most of us usually wear to bed (they also pay heaps for those). And I also learned that they have no effing idea about the rest of the world beyond Lower Parel. Oh no, some of them are acquainted to Bandra. Anyway, I spent three whole years with these people who are starkly different from me and by the time my college life ended, some of them turned out to be my best friends. Even at the MissMalini HQ, I have a bunch of fashionista friends from South Mumbai. I love them, I do. But it surprises me how they know more about Kim Kardarshian‘s booty than their own city. “Swags, do you wanna attend this event in Malad, it’s near Thane na?” Questions like these from my beloved colleagues make me want to gift them a map of Mumbai. 😛

Anyway, I am so fried after writing back-to-back IIFA posts, I really need a break soon. Considering the monsoons are here, I must head to Lonavala this weekend. Why? Because that’s what we do. Why? No one knows! Okay, so I got slightly carried away and wrote more than I intended to, but it’s time for me to put an end to my verbal diarrhea. Here’s a video of a fun stand-up act by the former townie, Sapan Verma (who happens to be my friend from college) that every Mumbaikar will easily relate to.

The part where he talks about Maganlal Chikki had me ROFL! What about you? 😀
