Kangana Ranaut is clearly ruling Bollywood currently. The actor has finally gotten her due and she’s only grown from strength to strength from Queen to Tanu Weds Manu Returns; not to forget her incredible roles before this winning streak. In a recent interview with Zoom, Kangana and R. Madhavan were talking shop and Kangana got a little… erm… sassy (we love it!).
So Maddy spoke about how Kangana and some other heroines have really upped the game now and raised the bar of the level of the performance expected by actors. He spoke about how at one point, you could make 20 films based on some “basic requirements” but now the standard is so high that merely knowing lines is just not enough.
Adding to that, Kangana said:
Just because you’re a glam doll or just because you’ve got long legs… the emphasis shouldn’t be about being a certain way. When you portray real life characters, the emphasis should be on the beauty of life…
In a place like Bollywood you can get all the attention just because you don’t speak Hindi. That’s somehow very aspirational for Bollywood people (laughs). “Arey! Ise Hindi nahi aati! How cute! She should land a role in a main film.” I mean, that’s bizarre! This shouldn’t be the criteria.
Oh, snap! Is this a hint-hint to someone in particular?
