As I’ve already mentioned, I’m in Paris (Yes, me and my Instagram feed love showing it off). I’m heading to Marseille tomorrow and I’ve hardly had time to breathe or shop, for that matter! And I’ve got a few #ootd posts, shopping hauls, packing tips, and other blogs coming up. Marseille should be a good break from the hustle and bustle of the city. That being said, I’ve really enjoyed playing dress up everyday and there’s nothing that goes better with an edgy outfit than a perfectly messy top knot. Now, anyone who’s tried the chic, messy bun knows that messy isn’t easy to achieve. So, while I was at H&M, I picked up a hair donut for 4 Euros. Here’s what I did with it.

P.S – If you want a little variation, try the braided top knot.

Yup, my hair started out looking like that. Needless to say, begin by coming out your hair.

Oh mahh gawwdd… this weather makes my hair so nice. Just a little combing and your good to go (B-T-W, it’s perfect. It dips to about 14 degrees Celsius at night, but the day is about 15-21 and it’s mostly sunny). I almost didn’t want to put my hair up anymore. Anyway, let’s move to step 2.

Next, put your hair up into a high ponytail and tie it with a thin hair tie. Make sure it’s neat and somewhat even.

Pull your ponytail through the donut and bring all your hair to the front. Then, spread it out evenly from front to back so that you cover up the donut.

Step 4

Put another thin, black rubber band on your bun, like so.

Wrap the loose strands around your hair, once again, evenly. Then, pin them into place. Leave some strands out for a more messy and unkempt look. And there you go, all done.

Try it out and send us pictures!

Psst… donuts are available at most beauty stores or big pharmacies. Forever 21 also has some.
