Bollywood has completed over 100 years. And as they say – times change, people change. Same happened with Bollywood, where the only thing that remained constant was the love for movies and everything else changed. Here are 5 things that prove Bollywood is not the same anymore.

1) The Villain

The legendary Gabbar – a larger than life villain with the most sadistic attitude. There was a time when cinema was incomplete without these kinds of villains. I mean they need to inflict pain on the protagonist in order to make the hero… a HERO!

Now, the villains don’t have to look evil…

Or even larger than life.

2) The Angry Young Man

The angry young man image that was established by our very own Amitabh Bachchan was about a man whose anger was caused by the villain. His sole aim in life was to avenge the death of a loved one. But overall, he was always the good man with no shades of grey.

Now, the angry young man still exists… but with a greyish tinge.

His vengeance goes beyond hurting only those who hurt him. Hence, an anti – hero!

3) The Brotherly Bond

There were times when brothers who sang together, stayed together.

Now, they dance together…

Laugh together…

And cry together.

4) Maa

Yes, mothers will be mothers. Nothing can change them. But the fact is that even though their love for their children remains the same, as individuals they are all different. Earlier, Maa was the most emotional person in the whole movie, who loved her children more than anything – so much so that maa ka dil could never be wrong.

Now, these mommies still get emo…

But also have an edgy-funny side to them…

At the same time, showing their individual personalities.

5) Heroines

Bollywood went through an entire phase where the woman had to be rescued by her man. That was romance – where the hero had to fight for his heroine against all odds to prove his love.

Now, these heroines challenge life…

And break free without having a man to rescue them.

These changes have only made Bollywood a better industry today. Because not all changes are bad, especially the ones you just read about.
