Day 2 at Amazon India Couture Week 2015 saw two designers, with two very different design styles. Rahul Mishra‘s collection Tree Of Life was all sorts of amazing. From the moment we took our seats to the moment we left, we were awestruck. The romantic and soft melody that played, was met with strong traditional elements on the runway. When we met with Rahul right before his show, he mentioned that with this collection, he wishes to create a new look for the multitasking bride. In a world filled with destination weddings and events, we no longer need to pine over our mother’s outfits. And I could definitely see what he meant, as I was witness to embroidered bomber jackets paired with an asymmetrical dress, silk sheer capes with a hand embroidered saree and so much more. Rahul took traditional elements and created magic! Check out some of the designs…
Moments after having seen traditional elements combined with international design aesthetics, it was Gaurav Gupta‘s time to take the stage. The show started with dim lights and an empty stage. The minute it got brighter, I felt like I was transported into another land… Gaurav’s runway looked like an enchanted forest. White barks entangled with fairy lights and models walking the runway like angles. You can tell Gaurav loves his embroidery. We spotted straight-fit net embroidered trousers with an ecru jacket, marsala coloured saree lehenga mixed with silk crepes and georgette, saree gowns paired with a sleeve cape. Get the gist? It was a magical show. Here are some of the breathtaking looks:
22 designs later, showstopper Kalki Koechlin walks out like a Goddess!
Last night was truly magical. And we can’t wait to see what tonight brings! Stay tuned for our LIVE updates from #AICW2015 with the Fashion Design Council of India.
