On the professional front, Saif Ali Khan is awaiting his next big release, Kabir Khan‘s Phantom opposite Katrina Kaif. And personally, he’s cherishing marital bliss with his Begum biwi, Kareena Kapoor Khan. So I guess it’s okay to say that our Nawab is in a happy place at the moment. However, the only glitch in his otherwise smooth-sailing life is the fact that he has two court cases pending against him. And recently, some people even demanded that Saif’s Padma Shri title should be stripped off. While talking about this, the actor told Mumbai Mirror that he feels he doesn’t deserve the honour and his first instinct was to not accept it. In the same interview with the popular leading daily, he mentioned:
My father thought for a second, then told me he didn’t think I could say ‘no’ to the Indian government. I wish I had followed my instinct. A Padma Shri isn’t hauled up for a fracas in a restaurant or bad behaviour. I’m embarrassed to flaunt the Padma Shri. I got a letter from the government that the positives outweigh the negatives. I can argue that despite my family background, I made my way on my own, created an urban, multiplex hero, but that’s pathetic. I only accepted the honour when two-three names in the list of recipients caught my eye. I thought, if the honour could be given to them, they could give it to me, too.
What do you think about this, guys?
