After a week’s delay, Bangistan hits the screens this Friday. The film has been promoted well, though its promo has been met with mixed reactions. Since Riteish Deshmukh stars in the film, one does expect some good laughs. However, the core theme of terrorism presented in a comic avatar means it would all ultimately boil down to word of mouth. There hasn’t been much momentum for the songs either and hence from the opening footfalls perspective, it would be a wait till Saturday before a trend can be established.
As of now, it could turn out that Drishyam and Bangistan would be neck in neck even as the former would be in its second week. In fact, even Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Baahubali would remain competition as they are still attracting audience and a good number of shows are being given to them.
Meanwhile, the biggest competition would be Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation. The Tom Cruise starrer has a good fan following in India and is an established franchise. It may not be another Fast & Furious or Avengers in the making but would clearly give all Hindi films in theatres a run for their money.
Meanwhile, Muzaffar Ali‘s Jaanisaar with Imran Abbas and Pernia Qureshi is also hitting screens. It is seeing an almost token release with just a show or two at select multiplexes. It hasn’t been promoted well either and would find it extremely tough to withstand the competition.
