BandraRoad tries of the shoes that made the street
BandraRoad tries on the shoes that made the street

Firstly, Surelee and I had a blast shooting this. Shoes have always been a major part of one’s personal wardrobe and this time, we thought, why not talk about the shoes that shaped the street. In our past posts, we’ve shown you style tricks with Adidas shoes and DIY tricks for your Converse sneakers. So today, I thought of talking about some of the most iconic shoes that play an important part of street culture and their resonating influence in our everyday dressing.

Dr. Martens

When army man, Dr. Klaus Martens turned to making army combat boots more comfortable and fit for a lighter affair, he didn’t realize the impact Dr.Martens would be making today. From Brit punks to rock ‘n’roll gods, the boots now signify a bad-ass attitude and rock edge.

Surelee rocks her Dr.Martens with a grey top, an Aztec printed skater girl skirt and a suede sleeveless jacket to add that rocker touch. While I worked mine with an all black-on-black look and added a splash of print with my favourite floral shirt. Both our looks are relaxed and yet have that rocker vibe, all thanks to the boots that were made for… rocking!

Supra skater shoes

What started as a product of an underground idea by 5 people is now quickly becoming a RnB favourite. The Supra high-tops and skater shoes are now a part of the street revolution in footwear.

I styled my Supras with my knee-strapped joggers, a basic tee and a baseball hat. It’s a street classic look and perfectly played to the cool Supra vibe.

Converse

With its roots in the basketball shoe industry, the Converse All Stars need no introduction. They are probably a brand of shoes you wore as a toddler and no matter what your age is now, you still own a few pairs of the iconic sneakers.

Playing into her college memories, Surelee kept her Converse inspired look relaxed in a black Pink Floyd tee and classic black skinnies to let the All Stars do all the talking. Talk about old-school vibes!
