Colour me Blue... Taking your Gym clothes to the Streets.
Colour me Blue… Taking your Gym clothes to the Streets.

There’s no feeling I like better than slipping on a sports bra—it must be something about the tight spandex and no underwire. Plus I find the neon colors available immensely more satisfying than my usual black lace when peeking out from my cut-off tank. That being said, you can still rock the active gym wear trend whether you’re at the gym or at the mall and it only takes a couple of switch-outs and layers. I love wearing workout clothes even when I’m travelling, I mean who needs skinny jeans, no matter how stretchy, when you’re stuck on a plane for two hours. Leggings and joggers have changed the way I see gym clothes. I love pursuing the activewear racks, in search of new nylon blends that will shrink-wrap and snuggle my body like a good boyfriend.

I’ve taken some of my active wear and mixed them with my normal everyday basics, thrown in some sneakers and colorful socks, and taken them to the streets.

Joggers all day....
Joggers all day….

I played around with bright neons and matched my sports bra and socks. I could literally take this look from the gym to the streets. Joggers are super versatile and that’s why I love them. Numbered tee’s are sporty and look pretty badass. I went old school with a pair of velcro Converse shoes.

I love the way work out tops fit. They have interesting cuts and shapes, making it ideal for the streets. Of course, the neon helps. I paired my Nike tank with a skirt from Forever21. This outfit makes me want to learn how to play tennis. I might be good at it….(who am I kidding). But just because I can’t play tennis, doesn’t mean I can’t work this outfit on the street. I would totally wear this when I’m meeting friends for coffee or lunch. I finished the look with my grey Nike trainers.

Play with colours and prints when buying work out clothes.

Going for a run in the morning?? – Well…no!! But doesn’t mean I can’t wear my favourite printed Adidas shorts to a friends house for lunch or catch the latest film at the theatre. I teamed my shorts with a neon pink sports bra from Target and a grey hoodie from Uniqlo and completed the look with my super-light running shoes from Nike.

Don't match your colours when it comes to sports wear.. clashing prints and colours are the best part.

Oversized sweatshirts or jackets are great with tight work out leggings and chunky sneakers.

Work out leggings are great. You can wear them with a tank and jacket and pair them with ankle boots and you can literally wear them to a club, and no one would ever know. I love these textured leggings from Nike, I wear them all the time, from my yoga class to dinner with friends. However, this time I styled it with my oversized sweatshirt and Supra high top sneakers. This outfit is great when I’m running around town finishing errands or just to grab a quick coffee. It’s also great to jump around in…and that’s exactly what I did.

Nowadays, workout clothes are so comfortable and stylish that you can barely go to your neighborhood grocery store without seeing someone donning yoga pants and running shoes. It’s because they are so comfortable and versatile. There are so many cool styles of women’s activewear that look amazing in their own right, the line has been forever blurred between casual style and gym style. And of course, anytime you can seamlessly mix style and comfort, we’re totally on board with that! Alexander Wang, who recently launched his line for H&M said,

I live in gym clothes. When you go out on the street, it’s the uniform now.

He also admitted that he is not an athlete.
