After a rather easy first day, day 2 of Amazon India Fashion Week SS’16 was a force to be reckoned with. Designers like Hemant & Nandita, Rasa Jaipur and Tanvi Kedia showcased an explosion of prints while Anand Bhushan, Ashish N Soni and Samant Chauhan gave us some exceptionally tailored and dramatic silhouettes. After Shivan & Narresh left us wide-eyed on day 1, this time it was Payal Pratap‘s day to shine. Stay tuned for a full review. Until then, here’s everything you need to know from day 2 at #AIFWSS16.

Show 1: Prama by Pratima Pandey, Rasa Jaipur & Tanvi Kedia

What started with muted tones and natural fabrics at Prama by Pratima Pandey, ended with a riot of prints by Tanvi Kedia. Silk dresses, saris, jackets and skirts came in an array of colours at Rasa Jaipur‘s show, but a clear favourite was the Parsi embroidery on Pratima Pandey’s chanderi creations.

Show 2: Hemant & Nandita & Not So Serious by Pallavi Mohan

The second show of the day displayed even more prints in the form of Hemant & Nandita‘s flower power, the ’60s inspired creations. Tortoise shell glasses, acid colours and pop art were all a part of their Summer of ’69 collection. Meanwhile, Pallavi Mohan‘s childhood kaleidoscope provided inspiration for her SS’16 prints. Shirt dresses, jumpsuits and sheer organza jackets came with laser cut 3D stars.

Show 3: Anand Bhushan & Dev R Nil

It took Anand Bhushan just three colours for his collection to make an impact. Tennis greens, yellow and white dominated his grassy runway in everything from pleated skirts to embellished gowns and separates. Fancy a game, anyone? Up next was Dev R Nil‘s take on the ’60s revolution. Lace and appliqué work mixed with floral prints came in the form of relaxed silhouettes sticking to their ‘liberation’ motto.

Show 4: Samant Chauhan

With ‘Kinnaur Queen‘ as his theme for the evening, Samant Chauhan unleashed some major drama on the runway with his silhouettes. As the press note talks about taking inspiration from the Indo-Greek cultural exchange, the extremely regal kaftans, boxy dresses, gowns and ruffled jackets were displayed as Royals by Lorde played aptly in the background.

Show 5: Payal Pratap

Sure, we got a strong dose of the ’60s, but Payal Pratap moved back an era and based her collection on the ’50s. Florals were mixed with polka dots on pleated skirts, halter necks and baby doll dresses. Her signature cross-stitch came in soft pastels and we got a glimpse of a pixellated version of the same stitch in her collection. Bouffants and winged liner completed to her ’50s theme.

Show 6: Ashish N Soni

It was all about your Inner Child at the finale show on day 2. Ashish N Soni stuck to his guns with models rolling out on the ramp in skates, with Minnie Mouse bunned hair, freckles and candy floss. Tailored denims, pleats, peplum and scalloped lace came in the form of pantsuits, cocktail dresses, skirts and dinner jackets.
