After three days at Amazon India Fashion Week, just when we were all starting to feel a little burnt out, day four perked us right up! As Malini Ramani had a disco party at her show with sequins and spotlights, Aneeth Arora had a different kind of jam session altogether. With beds and comfy pillows placed on her runway, we got a chance to join the Péro slumber party. That paired with a set of brand new designers, live band and a cult – day 4 kept us thoroughly entertained. Here’s everything you need to know…
New and emerging on the scene were labels ASA, The Meraki Project, Example, Lola by Suman B, Vitasta and Dvibhumi. The clothing and accessory labels were introduced by Elle and by the look of their shows, they’re definitely a set to keep an eye out for.
DRVV introduced us to his cult creations while Ragini Ahuja plastered her cotton dresses and slouchy denims with patches of florals, cigarettes (yes!) and the word ‘QUIT’ on a jacket (my favourite!). Lovebirds put up clothing both men and women would love, in their minimalist silhouettes in shades pastels and a whole lot of white.
Khadi, natural dyes and organic cotton came together to create 11.11’s occasion-neutral creations while Eka played with shapes and silhouettes to make their clothes wearable for every kind of woman.
Creating cocktail-wear while using traditional fabrics, would you dare to try Paras & Shalini’s take on the “naked dress”?
Malini Ramani’s disco take on resort wear is something everyone in the audience wanted to get their hands on. Cocktail saris, sexy cover-ups and all your party favourites in one blingy collection. Meanwhile, Gauri & Nainika presented a show at AIFW that was good enough to eat! With frills and ruffles in candyfloss shades, it was a girly girl’s dream.
The most eagerly anticipated show of the day, Aneeth Arora‘s was one I didn’t want to leave once it ended. Ever since the invite hit my mailbox with a WhatsApp chat about a sleepover, I couldn’t wait to see what she would bring to the runway. In clothing you could wear to bed and out, Aneeth Arora gets 10/10 on her presentation as well as designs (from me at least). Her press note came in the form of a typewritten letter from a neighbour who wasn’t invited to the pyjama party (how cute!?) while the music and décor did more than complete the show. Here are all my favourites.
The last show of the season closed with Athiya Shetty strutting her stuff in a glittering number by Rohit Gandhi & Rahul Khanna. From sparkling separates and tailored numbers, the duo gave us a collection that featured a piece for any kind of party. Stay tuned for a full review.
With just one more day left, if day 4 was a party, we can’t wait to see what day 5 brings! Of course, we’re bringing you all the live updates right here!
