As you would have heard by now, Sidharth Malhotra has been named the tourism ambassador for New Zealand. And I’ve gotta say, I’m pretty jealous of his job right now – because, as part of it, he’s getting to spend several days in NZ doing a ton of fun – and being adventurous! – activities that have him experiencing the local culture. He’s going to be there for a few more days, but his trip has already been full of crazy experiences… here’s a look at everything he did!

Braving the waves…

He joined legendary cricketer Stephen Fleming on a jet boat! They rode through the rapids and made some sharp turns in the tightest canyons.

Skydiving…

For the first time in his life, Sid jumped off an airplane from 15,000ft above sea level. He chose the highest scale and had a free fall for 60 seconds at 200km/hour. Here’s what he had to say:

Skydiving is an activity that I will absolutely recommend to all my friends and fans. It has been on my bucket list for a while now. What an amazing rush! Flying through the sky like that was everything I thought it would be and more. The feeling of free falling in Queenstown is surreal but I felt completely at ease knowing that my jumpmaster was in control.

Hot air balloon…

He took a hot air balloon ride in the morning overlooking views of Queenstown where The Hobbit was shot, along with the snow-capped Southern Alps and Lake Wakatipu. We hear, though, that he didn’t speak much during this adventure at all… he was either soaking it all in or thinking about someone. :P

Sky walking…

He actually started off his trip by walking around the perimeter of Auckland’s tallest building (the Sky Tower) at a height of 192 metres – which offered him a great view. Here’s what he said:

Walking around the Sky Tower, which is the tallest building in the southern hemisphere, was absolutely fantastic. I couldn’t have asked for a better kick-start for my trip, literally felt like living life on the edge. I definitely recommend my brother Akshay (Kumar) to do this.

Dressing up like an elf…

What New Zealand trip is complete without Lord of the Rings references? Sid, we hear, is a fan of the series, so he made it a point to go to the WETA workshop in NZ, where he was transformed into an elf.

Weta Workshop is a place where the unimaginable comes alive. I was stunned when I looked at myself in an elf avatar. The team here is extremely talented and it was a great honour to meet Sir Richard Taylor. I was excited about my make-over as an elf. It totally felt like I was ready for a battle to save Middle-earth with all the armour on me.

Jealous yet?
