Makeup maven and celebrity Youtuber, Lisa Eldridge just uploaded one effin’ fascinating video of the history of makeup. This isn’t just any ‘history of makeup’ kind of video, it captures every way the beauty industry has developed in the past 5,000 years. Yes, that’s 5,000 and not 500. It starts right with ancient Egypt and ends with our modern-day makeup choices. As she demonstrates various different looks, she also gives us a little history lesson on the impact that culture had on makeup and vice versa. Can I say, this is the best history lesson I’ve ever had. BRB, I’m going to write a thesis on the effects of society on beauty ideals. Okay, no, I’m kidding, but watch this video.

Okay, I just watched that 3 times. Which era’s your favorite? Personally, I love the fact that we’re so open to experimentation today, but that whole Egyptian get-up is really striking and maybe something you can try for Halloween? Tell us how you feel in the comments below.
