This hasn’t changed before, and it doesn’t look like this is going to change anytime soon ever. If there were as many as six films that released last Friday (and turned out to be disasters), there are five more films that are all set to hit the screens this Friday. These are Charlie Kay Chakkar Mein, Yaara Silly Silly, Four Pillars Of Basement, Ranbanka and Run Bhuumi. Except for the first couple of films, one hasn’t even heard of the remaining films, leave aside witnessing any marketing or promotion whatsoever.

Charlie Kay Chakkar Mein is a Naseeruddin Shah film and boasts of an exciting subject while being complimented by a good promo. Surprisingly, it hasn’t been marketed strongly. Yaara Silly Silly has some nice tunes to boast of and has seen some good online promotion as well. Its cast is competent too, with Paoli Dam and Parambrata Chatterji coming together. However, the buzz is minimal. Ranbanka is the surprise release of the week as it stars Manish Paul, who is a big name in the television circuit and also made a decent debut with Mickey Virus. Unfortunately, nothing has happened on the promotional front for the film.

Four Pillars of Basement is a thriller and though the plot looks interesting, there has been hardly any hype created around it. The fifth release of the week, Run Bhuumi, is a sports affair which was stuck in the cans for long. It arrives with practically zero promotion.

At multiplexes, though, it is going to be a strange phenomenon, because there is an abundance of screens available but hardly any software to project that would guarantee footfalls. Only Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 is still bringing in the audience, but that too is in the final leg. None of the releases from last week is expected to get more than one or two shows in the coming week, but then, the new releases, too, do not warrant a large number of shows. One wonders what would multiplexes actually screen this week. As for the single screens, it is a very bleak scenario.

No wonder, all eyes are on Salman Khan‘s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo which would release on Thursday, and hence ensure happy times for the industry which would finally see some light back on screens. Pun intended!
