Winter isn’t here yet. But it will be soon and you know what happens then. Lips tend to chap – a lot, your skin and hair get dried out, skin becomes dehydrated and flaky, your nails get brittle as there’s of lack vitamin D (which we usually get from the summer sun). I don’t want to depress you, so I’ll cut it short here. During this time of the year, you know the drill; up your skincare game, pull out all your fancy and super hydrating lip balms (because you’ll finish them by the truckload) and most importantly, moisturise from H-T (head to toe).

That being said, let’s move onto more (de)pressing issues, “what do I use? and when do I use it? “. While you don’t have to shell out a butt load on spas and expensive treatments, here’s the basics of what you can do when winter strikes!

1. Moisturiser

It’s preferable to use a thick moisturiser so that you don’t get a dry and flaky skin. Go in for products that contain shea butter since it’s quite hydrating and protects your skin.

2. Lip Balm

Pay close attention to see that your lip balm is enriched with shea butter, natural conditioning oils, antioxidant and vitamins (namely C & E). EOS lip balms really do the job at nourishing your lips for an immediately softer and beautiful pout.

3. Hand Cream

Your hands are delicate and need to have moisture too, so it’s important to protect them. Look out for properties that help to nourish and soften your hands and prevent them from getting brittle, like grape seed oil and jojoba oil.

4. Sunscreen

You might be like “What harsh rays? It’s winter” but believe me, you’ll want to slather on some sunscreen. If you’ve been slacking and ditching  your daily sunscreen, we recommend you use at least an SPF 40+ during the winter as the UV rays can damage your skin through your clothing. Try using a spray on.

5. Hydrating Masques

Just how your hair becomes limp and dry, your skin needs hydration too. Make sure to check the ingredients and see if it’s rich in nutrients and mentions a few key essential oils. Overnight masques are perfect. Because while you sleep, your skin does all the work leaving it smoother and more supple by morning.
