Ladies Who Lunch: Outfit Inspirations From 5 Bollywood Divas

Ladies Who Lunch

When the phrase “ladies who lunch” was introduced, it was the ’60s and “lunching” was a pastime of the social elite. It was a glamorous affair, a gathering of affluent wives dressed to perfection as they descended upon New York City’s most upscale restaurants. On the agenda was shopping, fashion, and the next big social event.

Fast-forward a few decades, and here we are in 2015 still all about lunching but with a whole new definition of “ladies who lunch”. While many of us still indulge in the occasional get-all-dressed-up-and-gossip-with-the-girls lunch, the woman of today also take on everything from the high-powered, executive business lunches to the quick lunch date with that guy from Tinder.  Versatility at it’s best, don’t you think?

While we can’t help you pencil in all those weekly lunches, we can definitely help with some outfit ideas for your next tête-à-tête. Taking inspiration from our favorite Bollywood fashionistas, here are some knockout outfits for our ladies who lunch!

1. The Business Lunch

Frieda Pinto

Frieda Pinto shows us that business lunches don’t have to be all black blazers and awkward length skirts. We love the concept of a coloured suit for a daytime look. It’s the perfect blend of urban professional and fashionista!

2. The Lunch Date

Neha Dhupia

We’re totally digging Neha Dhupia’s boho vibe in this long sleeve white shirtdress. Paired with a pair of heels, a few accessories, and minimalist makeup, this is the perfect casual chic look for a quick lunch date.

3. The 5-Star Lunch

Deepika Padukone

For those girly gang get-together lunches at the hottest five star hotels in town, we love Deepika Padukone’s fashionably polished look. Not to mention that you could use that sleeveless blazer to style a million different outfits! Leave it to DP to always look so trendy.

4. The Ambiguous Lunch

Karishma Kapoor

Sometimes you just have to go to lunch, period. Karisma Kapoor shows us how to put together an outfit that is appropriate for almost any lunch you end up at – from your great aunt’s 100th birthday celebration to dining with an old client.

5. The Working Lunch

Alia Bhatt

For those of us who work from home (yes, there are millions of us and yes, we have real jobs), you know what I mean when I say sometimes you just NEED to get out! You pack your laptop, head over to your favorite café or work-hub, order a quick bite, put in your headphones, and get to work. We love Alia Bhatt’s outfit for one of those working lunches. It’s comfortable yet chic – spacey culottes, a loose crop top, and comfy sneakers! #Win
