After Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon and Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2, yet another small/medium budget film has thrown a pleasant surprise in theaters. Hate Story 3, which was always supposed to do well, has actually done very well at the box office. After a fantastic start that led to a very stable and successful weekend, the Vishal Pandya directed film stayed quite stable at the box office on the weekdays as well. As a result, after weekend collections of 26.82 crore, the T-Series film has now accumulated around 42 crore in theaters. This is simply superb and as a result, the film is now a big hit!
While it is now a given that the film would comfortably cross the 50 crore mark by the close of second weekend itself, it has to be seen how far it goes from this point on. Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 has touched the 64 crore mark and while that seems out of reach for the most successful erotica franchise now (Ragini MMS comes second now), the fact remains that Hate Story would now certainly see more franchise installments being developed in months and years to come.
The first week collections of the Sharman Joshi, Karan Singh Grover, Zareen Khan and Daisy Shah film are in top 15 of the year so far:
Bajrangi Bhaijaan – 184.62 crore
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo – 172.82 crore
Singh Is Blinng – 77.6 crore
Welcome Back – 74.02 crore
Brothers – 72.6 crore
ABCD – Any Body Can Dance 2 – 72 crore
Tanu Weds Manu Returns – 70 crore
Baby – 63.82 crore
Gabbar Is Back – 60 crore
Dil Dhadakne Do – 57 crore
Tamasha – 53.46 crore
Phantom – 47.4 crore
Drishyam – 46.25 crore
Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon – 43.5 crore
Hate Story 3 – 42 crore
Angry Indian Goddesses has turned out to be a major disappointment at the box office with hardly any collections to boast of, courtesy its poor marketing and promotion. Kajarya was a non-starter from the first show itself and is not even in the running in the second week.
